About the Speaker:
Dr. Martha Burnette Collins, Retired Lt Col.
Martha is from San Diego where she graduated from San Diego State University after studying Biology. A Veteran, she is a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the USAF specializing in Optometry and is a member of the Air Force Reserve. Martha is currently a semi-retired Optometrist.
Dr Burnett retired from Kaiser and the Air Force Reserves, serving 33 years and 23 years respectively. Martha is married, with three adult children, and currently lives in Elk Grove.
Under the Military Street Banner Program, the City of Elk Grove proudly displays banners along Elk Grove Blvd and Civic Center Drive honoring retired or honorably discharged members of the United States Armed Forces. Martha currently has a banner posted on Elk Grove Blvd for 12 months honoring her 23 years as an Air Force officer!
Martha enjoys volunteering her time doing vision screening for the homeless and disabled veterans. She is very active in her church ad likes to do thrift shopping, decorating her house and trying to recruit the next generation to become an optometrist. Practicing Optometry for 41 years has been a joy. Dr. Burnett deems her profession more like a ministry than a career.
Remember to see your optometrist before renewing your driver's license. Remember to bring some glasses wipes to clean our glasses as well as the visual acuity machine before reading the letters to the clerk.

District Assembly is open to all Rotarians and is particularly important for incoming Club Presidents and officers. Foundation Chairs, Membership Chairs, Public Image Chairs, and others need to attend to feel fully prepared for the incoming year.
There will be an awesome array of breakout sessions available (those will be announced shortly!), general sessions, munchies and lunch, and just plain fun gathering with fellow Rotarians.

Denise is a resident on Grand Island and is deeply committed to our local community. In particular, the advancement of education and opportunities for our children, youths, and families.
