Topic: Secrets to DMV CDL Renewal at 70. About the Speaker: Dr. Martha Burnette Collins, Retired Lt Col. Martha is from San Diego where she graduated from San Diego State University after studying Biology. A Veteran, she is a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the USAF specializing in Optometry and is a member of the Air Force Reserve. Martha is currently a semi-retired Optometrist. Dr Burnett retired from Kaiser and the Air Force Reserves, serving 33 years and 23 years respectively. Martha is married, with three adult children, and currently lives in Elk Grove. Under the Military Street Banner Program, the City of Elk Grove proudly displays banners along Elk Grove Blvd and Civic Center Drive honoring retired or honorably discharged members of the United States Armed Forces. Martha currently has a banner posted on Elk Grove Blvd for 12 months honoring her 23 years as an Air Force officer! Martha enjoys volunteering her time doing vision screening for the homeless and disabled veterans. She is very active in her church ad likes to do thrift shopping, decorating her house and trying to recruit the next generation to become an optometrist. Practicing Optometry for 41 years has been a joy. Dr. Burnett deems her profession more like a ministry than a career. Remember to see your optometrist before renewing your driver's license. Remember to bring some glasses wipes to clean our glasses as well as the visual acuity machine before reading the letters to the clerk. |

He has been a Financial Advisor for over 30 years as a partner with Pacific Investment Consultants and now as a Principal with Captrust (the nations largest Registered Investment Advisory firm). Ryan is the current Assistant Governor for Area 5 (Folsom and El Dorado Hills) and Blood Drive Chair for the District. He is a past president of Folsom Rotary and has served many Board positions for his club. He loves triathlon training and has a passion for service and connecting with others. He has been nicknamed "Mr. Motivation" and loves to help people "live outside of their comfort zone" and push past their fears. His favorite quote is "just on the other side of your fears that's where the treasure lies".

About the Speakers: Tami Wilson isDirector of English Language Arts at the Sacramento Co. Office of Education (SCOE) and is project lead on the California Literacy Roadmap. Tami serves on the California Reading Difficulties Risk Screen Selection Panel and was the Project Lead for the California Dyslexia Initiative (CDI). Tami has been an educator for over 35 years and has developed and delivered statewide training in English language arts, leadership, standards of accountability, supporting teachers, coaches, and administrators. Tami served on the CTC SB488 Work Group, and as staff for the California State Academic Content Standards Commission. Tamie has worked on numerous statewide committees to decelop and roll out professional development on the standards, framework, instructional materials toolkit, and the California Dyslexia Guidelines. Tami served as the SCOE lead for the Scaling Up MTSS project, supporting districts in Sacramento to devleop and implement comprehensive frameworks that align academic, behavioral, and social emotional learning. Tamie is passionate about creating equitable learning environments for all students and provide training, coaching, and support to high needs schools across California. Denise is a resident on Grand Island and is deeply committed to our local community. In particular, the advancement of education and opportunities for our children, youths, and families. Denise is a part of the California State PTA, specificatlly, Third District, Delta Units. She is on the State Board of Managers, VP Programs and Mentor. Denise also hold the Treasurer postion with the Walnut Grove PTA. |

About the Speaker: Christopher Jernberg was born in Sweden in 1971. He was a boy scout, martial artist, illustrator and soldier before moving to America to study and teach art at the Academy of Art University in San Fransicso. He has painted portraits of Mayor Willie Brown and His Majesty The King of Sweden and been awarded a Certificate of Honor from the Board of Supervisors in San Francisco. He has acted in movies and a BBC/Nova series on juman evolution. After becoming a master of fine arts at the age of 25, he noticed that being an artist - or any other pre made role he could think of - did not make him complete. As a response he created the role of navigator, as in life navigator, and began piecing together a system for general life mastery. After 65 years of experience, he will share some of his observations and findings. |

Play Ground Advocate

Since this March (2025), we have added two more features and we continue to improve Southside's universal universe playground. Our next goals include adding braile maps and images from NASA. About the Speaker: Dr. David Gutierrez is our current principal at Walnut Grove Elementary School. Dr. Gutierrez earned a MA in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of the Pacific in 2010, and an Ed.D in P-12 Educational Leadership & Policy Studies at Sacramento State University. Dr. Gutierrez has been a public-school educator for over eighteen years, fourteen of which have been as a school site administrator. Dr. Gutierrez comes with a variety of experiences as a culturally relevant school administrator and his experience ranges from high school, middle school, k-8 and elementary schools as well as traditional and dual language immersion schooling. Growing up as a migrant student and English learner, Dr. Gutierrez also has a unique experience with the public education system: one that has been both rewarding and at times unnavigable. As principal of Walnut Grove, he looks forward to meeting all members of the school community and creating networks that can help our students succeed and become outstanding citizens. |

About the Speaker: (from the District's website) The District Governor provides leadership, inspiration, and guidance to Rotary clubs under the general supervision of the Rotary International Board of Directors. In each jurisdiction or district, the Governor serves as the regional officer of Rotary, fostering success in their district at the club level. Megan is from Loomis, California where she first entered the insurance industry at a local insurance agency. Having held multiple positions in the insurance field from Customer Service to Management, Megan is now an agent writing commercial insurance business with Albano Insurance in Orangevale, California.
Megan moved to Folsom, California to raise her two children where she was a frequent volunteer in the classroom. She was introduced to Rotary in 2015 and became the Club President of the Folsom Lake Rotary Club for the 2016-2017 term. After moving to Sacramento in 2017, Megan joined the Rotary Passport One Club. There she has held several club positions including Club President in 2021-2022.
Megan has also been very active in District 5180 serving in many positions including as an Assistant Governor from 2018-2021, the District Insurance Representative from 2018 to present, the District Crisis Management Team, and as District Conference Chair for the 2023 District Conference. Megan is also a Rotary PRLS (Practical Relevant Leadership Skills) Graduate and is now a facilitator. Megan also attended the 2022 Zone Institute as the District’s Emerging Rotary Leader and will be taking on the role as District Governor of District 5180 in the 2025-2026 term.
Megan and her husband Leroy live in Sacramento, California. They have 4 adult children between them. They both love to travel and explore new areas of the world and experience different cultures and ideas.
