Creating Today's Super Heros

About the Speaker:

It’s a new Rotary year and it’s so exciting to see that clubs are starting to meet in-person again! Fundraisers, projects and events are being planned! We are ‘People of Action’ doing amazing things in our communities and across the globe!
As your new District Governor, I’m excited about what the year ahead holds for us and for those we serve. Our new Rotary International President, Shekhar Mehta, from the Rotary Club of Calcutta – Mahanagar, India, has chosen his theme for the new year – “Serve to Change Lives.”
President Mehta’s theme sums up what we do in Rotary - we positively impact the lives of people in our own communities and in other countries, most of whom we will never meet. If there is one thing Rotarians are – we are “change agents.”
The District theme for this year is “Creating Today’s Superheroes” to reflect the incredible work done by Rotarians in our district, most often in their spare time. In the midst of family, work and other obligations, Rotarians still find time to help those in need – truly reflecting “Service Above Self.”
As change agents, Rotarians are truly Superheroes. Look at the efforts of local Rotarians in continuing to serve our communities in spite of a pandemic. Past DG Brent Hastey led our District through a tumultuous time and under his leadership our Rotarians didn’t miss a beat – providing much needed food to local families, turning RYE into a fabulous virtual experience and finding new ways to do fundraisers (virtually!) so we could continue to support our communities. These projects and many more were ignited by Rotarians with a passion and commitment to identify problems, find solutions and transform communities while changing lives in the process. All the while, becoming Superheroes who care and inspire others to make our communities better in every way.
But there is still so much need locally and in the world. Rotarian Superheroes are needed now, more than ever, to work together to assist and strengthen our communities and continue to change lives for the better.
